Provide management oversight for all phases of the commercial/civil/heavy highway/utility construction projects.

Civil Project Estimator Details:

  • Direct Hire position
  • $100,000.00 /annually
  • First Shift (Monday through Friday from 06:00am to 03:00am)
  • Assists with identifying potential projects for bidding and preparing pre-bid queries
  • Consult with legal, finance, equipment, procurement, construction foremen and vendors to discuss and formulate estimates and resolve issues
  • Prepare for heavy civil construction estimates used by management for purposes such as planning, organizing and scheduling work
  • Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates
  • Confer with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors on changes and adjustments to cost estimates
  • Assess cost effectiveness of products, projects or services, tracking actual costs relative to bids as the project develops
  • Prepare estimates for use in selecting vendors or subcontractors
  • Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures
  • Establish and maintain tendering process, and conduct negotiations
  • Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors
  • Review material and labor requirements to decide whether it is more cost-effective to complete internally or via a sub-contractor
  • Prepare cost and expenditure statements and other necessary documentation at regular intervals for the duration of the project
  • Visit site and record information about access, drainage and topography, and availability of services such as water and electricity
  • Maintain good customer relations by acting in a professional and courteous manner
  • Develop a cost-effective plan and schedule for project completion following a logical pattern for resource utilization
  • Selects and coordinates work of subcontractors working on various phases of the project
  • Reviews architectural and engineering drawings to ensure all specs and regulations are followed
  • Responsible for proper administration of construction contracts and for obtaining all necessary permits and licenses
  • Tracks and controls construction schedule and associated costs to achieve completion on time and within budget

Civil Project Estimator Qualifications:

  • Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or equivalent experience required
  • 3+ years of estimating and supervising commercial/heavy civil/heavy highway/utility construction projects experience required
  • Use of Bid2Win or similar cost estimating, scheduling and cost tracking software a plus
