Laboratory Technician Details:
Contract to Hire position- $
22.00 / hour First Shift ( Monday throughFriday from 08:00am to05:00pm )
- Receive, inspect, identify, and log test samples. Report any observed damage, deterioration or loss to the supervisor for resolution
- Prepare test specimens as specified in applicable test methods and procedures
- Set up and conduct tests according to standard test methods and laboratory operating procedures
- Carry out routine tasks accurately and in conformance with established policies and procedures
- Collect and document detailed records of test data, observations, and test results. Provide limited interpretation of test results as needed
- Ensure equipment is maintained, verified, and/or calibrated prior to initiating evaluation/test activities
- Assist the Lab Manager to inventory, maintain, order, receive, and verify supplies as needed
- Resolve technical and quality problems by consulting with the Laboratory Manager and management team as needed
- Conform to all safety and security procedures, immediately report any safety concerns or other conditions which pose a risk to personnel safety.
Laboratory Technician Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED or specialized vocational training and 1+ year of laboratory experience is required. An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering, science, mathematics or similar) is preferred. An equivalent combination of education training, and/or experience is acceptable in lieu of education or experience requirements
- Must possess or have the ability to develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant test methods, procedures, or analytical processes within the framework of an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory environment. Ability to independently read, interpret and apply standard test methods, i.e. ASTM, ANSI, EN, etc. is required
- Must exercise sound technical judgment, superior ethics, and compliance to applicable policies and procedures in the conduct of job responsibilities. Must demonstrate a solid grasp if data analysis and performance metrics, be able to diagnose problems and define solutions quickly, and have foresight into potential issues
- Must be computer literate, possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and must be able to operate a calculator for mathematical calculations.
