Laboratory Technician Details:

Receive, inspect, identify, and log test samples. Report any observed damage, deterioration or loss to the supervisor for resolution
Prepare test specimens as specified in applicable test methods and procedures
Set up and conduct tests according to standard test methods and laboratory operating procedures
Carry out routine tasks accurately and in conformance with established policies and procedures
Collect and document detailed records of test data, observations, and test results. Provide limited interpretation of test results as needed
Ensure equipment is maintained, verified, and/or calibrated prior to initiating evaluation/test activities
Assist the Lab Manager to inventory, maintain, order, receive, and verify supplies as needed
Resolve technical and quality problems by consulting with the Laboratory Manager and management team as needed
Conform to all safety and security procedures, immediately report any safety concerns or other conditions which pose a risk to personnel safety.

Laboratory Technician Qualifications:

High school diploma/GED or specialized vocational training and 1+ year of laboratory experience is required. An Associates or Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline (engineering, science, mathematics or similar) is preferred. An equivalent combination of education training, and/or experience is acceptable in lieu of education or experience requirements
Must possess or have the ability to develop a thorough knowledge and understanding of relevant test methods, procedures, or analytical processes within the framework of an ISO/IEC 17025-accredited laboratory environment. Ability to independently read, interpret and apply standard test methods, i.e. ASTM, ANSI, EN, etc. is required
Must exercise sound technical judgment, superior ethics, and compliance to applicable policies and procedures in the conduct of job responsibilities. Must demonstrate a solid grasp if data analysis and performance metrics, be able to diagnose problems and define solutions quickly, and have foresight into potential issues
Must be computer literate, possess a working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, and must be able to operate a calculator for mathematical calculations.
