Personal Property Deputy

The Carbon County Assessor's office is responsible for classifying all property in the county and compiling information into reports that are utilized by the Auditor's office to calculate tax rates and the Treasurer's office for collections.

Personal Property Deputy Details:

  • Temp-to-Hire position
  • $18.00 /hour
  • Part Time work available
  • First Shift (Monday through Friday from 08:00am to 05:00pm)
  • Performs duties in valuation and classification of personal property, i.e. Commercial business, mobile homes, and transitory construction equipment
  • Reviews annual Personal Property Declarations and verifies increases or reductions in taxable personal property
  • Maintain current files of businesses and mobile homes. Research and discovery to keep files current
  • Will gain personal property training according to Tax Commission courses and certifications.
  • Will continue to gain training or educational credits to keep assessor license current or complete Assessor Trainee training within 36 months of hire according to State Tax Code, to include gaining a trainee license if needed through the Division of Real Estate.

Personal Property Deputy Qualifications:

  • One (1) year of clerical experience performing related duties.
  • Will need to possess an active driving license
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Must take and pass the Personal Property Courses with the Utah State Tax Commission, and become designated with the Utah State Tax Commission.
  • Motivated to understand and enforce Assessment codes and processes of personal property, appraisal code and greenbelt rules and regulations. 
  • Applicant may be subject to a background check
  • Applicant may be subject to a Motor Vehicle Report
  • Pre-employment drug screen is required as a condition of employment
