Truck Shop Mechanic Details:
Contract to Hire position- $
20.00 to $ 30.00 / hour First Shift
- Perform diagnostic and repair services on customer vehicles both in the field and in the shop using tools like ohm/volt meters, breakout harnesses, and Allison DOC ECT.
- Conduct in-chassis transmission repairs and driveline inspections, including driveline runout checks.
- Drive company vehicle to customer sites and professionally discuss repair needs and vehicle symptoms.
- Recommend and communicate necessary additional repairs to both customers and supervisors.
- Read and interpret technical manuals, diagnostic charts, and service bulletins to guide accurate repairs.
- Maintain a clean and organized company service vehicle with adequate inventory of parts and tools.
- Utilize and maintain Allison-specific literature, diagnostic tools, and special equipment provided.
- Keep accurate service records and assist with organized documentation or filing as needed.
- Follow all safety policies, procedures, and company standards at all times.
- Stay current with technical knowledge through company-provided online learning, manuals, and instructor-led training programs.
Truck Shop Mechanic Qualifications:
- 3+ years of experience in truck repair or heavy-duty vehicle maintenance (Allison transmission experience a plus).
- Familiarity with diagnostic equipment including volt/ohm meters, breakout harnesses, and computer-based tools.
- Ability to perform in-chassis transmission repairs and interpret driveline diagnostics.
- Must own a complete set of American-made hand tools appropriate for truck service work.
- Strong understanding of vehicle electrical systems, wiring diagrams, and diagnostic procedures.
- Must hold a valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
