Payroll Clerk Details:
Direct Hire position- $
45,000.00 / annually Salaried
- Gather and review employee time sheets from multiple locations, verifying accuracy of hours worked, overtime, vacation, and sick leave.
- Calculate employee pay based on state-specific minimum wage laws, overtime rules, and other applicable deductions (i.e.. taxes, health insurance, retirement contributions, child support).
- Accurately withhold federal and state income taxes, as well as any local taxes, based on employee W-4 forms and state-specific tax tables.
- Prepare and timely submit appropriate tax withholding returns (i.e. 941, 940, monthly/quarterly state withholding returns).
- Stay current with changing state payroll regulations across all operating states, ensuring compliance with filing deadlines and reporting requirements.
- Generate paychecks or direct deposits for employees in multiple states, ensuring timely and accurate payments.
- Prepare and review payroll reports to identify discrepancies, reconcile payroll data with timekeeping systems, and address any issues.
- Respond to employee questions regarding paystubs, deductions, and payroll-related issues.
- Maintain and update payroll software and internal HR records with employee information, tax codes, and other relevant data.
Payroll Clerk Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree in accounting is required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Ability to accurately handle large volumes of data and perform detailed calculations.
- Thorough understanding of payroll principles, including federal and state tax regulations, deductions, and compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with varying payroll laws and regulations across multiple states.
- Proficiency in payroll processing software, Sage 300 and Microsoft Office applications (Excel).
